Hello weekend! I’m excited and this is a four day weekend for me. I have some chores to do around the house, but get to spend most of the time in my studio! I’m going to try to film a studio tour this weekend.
Today I’m sharing the card I made for Simon Says Stamp’s Instagram Challenge. This month, the challenge theme is Birthday Bash.
I used one of my left over watercolor panels to make today’s card (can you believe I still have some left…). I shared some of this card in Instagram Stories a few weeks ago, so it may look familiar.

I started out by stamping the sentiment from Avery Elle’s Sentiments with Versamark ink on a Distress Watercolor cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment with Hero Arts Gold embossing powder. I added Catherine Wheel Nuvo Shimmer powder to the card panel, and sprayed it with water.

Once the panel was dry I added some fun foam, then added the panel to a MFT Poppy card base.
This card was so easy to make, but has such an impact. You can’t really see the shimmer in the pictures, but it’s stunning in real life. This watercolor technique will always have a place in my heart.
Thanks for stopping by!
Nicole
I love that background, Nicole, and the sentiment in gold is perfect! I don’t t think it would have worked with any other embossing powder. I’ve seen those Avery Elle sentiments, I may have to pick up the set 🙂
Did you do a video or a post with the original set of watercolor backgrounds? I would love to see it!

Hey Dori! I don’t have a video showing how I made the backgrounds. It’s a goal of mine for 2020, to make the leap into videos. I do have a video on YouTube that shows my general technique. https://www.youtube.com/user/curlesue100
