Welcome back! I’m excited to share today’s card. This set came in handy last week with my surgery! First, let me share with you what I am rambling about: today’s freebie from Scrapbook.com’s 12 Days of Christmas. It’s this adorable Art Impression’s Elephant Stamp, made excessively for Scrapbook.com. Let’s not forget the other great sales going on right now.
And now…this super cute elephant!!!
I wanted to make a card for my friend Jenni, who graciously agreed to drive me to the hospital for my surgery. I came across this stamp, and thought it was perfect. It was a nice fall feel to it, so giving it the week of thanksgiving was perfect.
I started out by masking a square on my card using the Taylored Expressions masking stencil. I figured out where I wanted the image, and stamped it with Hero Arts Intense Black ink, along with a mask. I fussy cut the mask (even all the little leaves) and masked off the image to ink the background. I left the stencil in place all this time, so I could use it to ink the background.
I wanted to share a quick trick using the masking stencil. Leaving the outline rectangle in place, I grabbed the filler piece, and used it to mask off the ground for my scene. Once I inked the ground, I flipped the filler mask and did the same with the sky.
Once I had my background inked, I removed the mask and colored the images with Copic markers.
To finish off the card, I added a sentiment strip from Taylored Expressions sentiment strips. Using the sentiment banner from Concord & 9ths Monogram, I die cut a blue glitter cardstock layer. After layering the two strips, I added the sentiment to the card with foam tape. The card base is Gina K Soft Stone. Its difficult to see in the cloudy pictures, but I added Glossy Accents to the bike.
This card was a labor of love, and well deserved, I just wish I could have gotten better pictures. I hope you take advantage of this freebie, it’s so cute!
Thanks for stopping by!
