Welcome back! Despite not feeling well this weekend, I did manage to spend some time in my craft studio Sunday. I was getting worried as in addition to not feeling well, I was not feeling inspired at all. Inspiration finally hit Saturday night. I was surprised, because I’m not really a banner die person, but I came up with several ideas using the Birthday Dies, which were last month’s free with $60 gift from Concord and 9th. Sorry about all the Concord and 9th this week, it just happened to work out this way :).
Here is the first one:
I’m sorry about the bad photos, the sun disappeared when I went to take them, so we are stuck with my studio lighting.
I started out by creating a panel with the Star Turnabout, stamping all four times with Delicata Golden Glitz. I trimmed down the star panel, and die cut a frame from Gold Foil cardstock, using Simon Says Stamps Stitched Rectangle dies. I also die cut the banner and the sentiment from the Birthday dies with the same Gold Foil cardstock. I layered the frame on the panel, with the banner under the frame. This is when I realized that the die cut “Birthday,” was too big, and went on the hunt for a smaller one. This one is from Everyday Greetings, with the Happy masked off.
I stamped the birthday in Versamark ink and embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. I add the panel to a Gina K Designs Kraft card base with fun foam.
Next up, I used the Confetti Cards dies on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to start out the card.
Then I took the sentiment from Birthday Dies and cut them from the confetti panel. Then I die cut the sentiment from teal foil cardstock (I totally forgot I had these gorgeous, vividly colored foil card pads).
I layered some of the silver glitter cardstock I had left over from Christmas last year, underneath the confetti panel. Then I inlaid the teal into the confetti panel. Then I die cut the banner from the same foil and silver glitter cardstock. I originally layered on the card panel symmetrically, but then thought it looked weird. And of course I used adhesive, so I had to carefully remove the pieces. If you look you can see where I tried to sand it down…
I added the banners a second time, and then added the panel to a Gina K Design’s Tranquil Teal card base with fun foam.
Both cards have tons of shimmer and glitter. I must have been suffering from withdrawal or something. I was really surprised with the designs, as I mentioned above I’m not normally a fan of banners. I guess I really needed to get out of my comfort zone.
Thanks for stopping by, and hanging out while I recover from this cold.
