Happy Birthday – Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge

Hey there! Hanging in there? I had a bit of a rough weekend. I woke up with a killer headache Saturday morning. Since it was my son’s birthday, I rallied for a bit. But, I was in bed by 7:00 pm. Needless to say, I got very little done. Sunday was about the same. The headache wasn’t so bad, but just kind of out of it. Luckily, I made a card for my son earlier in the week, AND it just so happens to fit the SSS Wednesday challenge, sort of.

The challenge this week is Happy Birthday, to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the SSS Wednesday challenge. The product focus is SSS products, and that is where I took a detour.

I started out by creating the box using the awesome dies from now closed Craftin Desert Divas. I die cut it twice from MFT’s Blue Yonder cardstock. I stamped the dragons from Mama Elephant’s Dragon Wishes and Me and My Dragons, using Gina K Design’s Amalgam ink and colored them with Copic markers. Then I die cut them with the matching dies.

I kept the rest of the card pretty simple. I die cut two of the decorative pieces for the flaps from Neenah Classic Crest Solar white cardstock. I used MFT’s Cloud stencil on one, with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I added the mountains from Mama Elephant’s Kingdom Trio, a scrap I had saved.

With the second decorative piece, I added the sentiment, and blended some more Tumbled Glass around the edges. Using strips of acetate, I added the other images to the tabs inside the card box. Oh, I added a third decorative piece to the back, so I could write a note.

My son said this was his favorite card, out of all of the cards I have made for him! I knew keeping the decorations to a minimum was the way to go. He is a huge Game of Thrones fan. I was a little worried his Birthday wouldn’t feel special with everything going on. But, we were still able to get his favorite wings, and really, he is a homebody.

Stay safe, and thanks for stopping by!
