Hello and welcome back! I don’t know about you, but I am having a tough time getting back into the swing of things. When my routine is disrupted, it’s difficult to pick it back up. Since today is the start of the first full week back, I’m struggling. How about I share a shinny and colorful card?
Today’s card was inspired by this weeks’ MFT Sketch challenge (470). Here is the sketch:
In terms of trying to use images, I struggled with this sketch. When I switched to a more abstract design, it came much, much easier to me. I should warn you, my blog is going to be watercolor heavy for the next week or longer. I went a little crazy making watercolor panels on New Years. Ok, back to today’s card.
I started out with a panel of Distress Watercolor cardstock. I trimmed it down for a card front. Next, I got out my handmade, shimmer watercolors and tried to pick a color for the rectangles. I was originally going to use the teal color, but having one color looked so plain. Both of the watercolors are from @31purplefish. The teal is Under The Sea, the purple is Ultra Violet. I added the Ultra Violet while the Under The Sea was still wet, so the colors blended into a lovely blue.
For the sentiment, I die cut MFT’s Hello from MFT Black Licorice cardstock 4 times and layered them together with liquid adhesive. Look at all that shimmer 🙂 The card base is also Black Licorice cardstock, and I added the watercolor panel to the card base with fun foam.
This card came together so quickly, but is so stunning! I want to play around with watercolor more, in , elusive free time . I have some plans for some wall art, to hang in my living room.
Thanks for stopping by!
