Merry Christmas!!! I hope you are having a fabulous day with family and friends. If you find yourself alone today, or are struggling, please know you are not alone. You are welcome here.
Today I am popping on to share the card I made for this week’s Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge. This week the theme is Party Time, and the product feature is Simon Says Stamp.
There is another purpose for today’s card. I believe I’ve mentioned this before; I’m a twin. Our birthday was the 22nd, and this is the card I made for my sister. Unfortunately I am giving it to her late. Two things caused the delay. One, I wanted to spray the panel with a fixative, and Amazon could not deliver in time. Two, I wanted to use the Tonic Studios Holo cardstock, which didn’t arrive until the 21st. That’s ok, I made a clever stamp alteration for inside the card, and I sent her a sneak peek.
I started out by stamping Simon Says Stamp’s Rebecca Lace background stamp on a panel of Distress Watercolor cardstock with Versamark ink, then heat embossing with Wow Opaque White Detail powder. Next I added Blue Blitz Nuvo Shimmer Powder and sprayed with water. I set the panel aside to dry and waited for the Tonic Holo cardstock to arrive (it was worth it).
These pictures don’t even due the Holo cardstock or the shimmer powder justice. So many heart eyes for this card!
Anyway, I used MFT’s Celerbrate die to die cut the Holo cardstock. I also cut it three more times from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, and layered them together with liquid adhesive for dimension. The happy birthday is from Concord and 9th’s So Happy For You, stamped on Gina K Designs Blue Raspberry cardstock with Versamark and embossed with more Wow. Oh, the fishtail sentiment strips shape is from Concord & 9th’s discontinued Monogram Ampersand set.
I used liquid adhesive to add the Celebrate as well as the sentiment strip. Then I added the watercolor panel to a Neenah card base with fun foam and Scor Tape.
I did spray the watercolor panel with a fixative before I assembled the card. This is a new step for me, but I feel it’s long overdue. If you’ve been around for a bit, you know I love powdered watercolors (Nuvo Shimmer Powders or Brusho Crystals). It’s become more and more obvious to me that the powders rub off cardstock, especially in concentrated spots. I tend to make a bunch of panels at once, then use them as needed. Powder was ending up on everything! I ruined two stamped panels because I was storing them in a stack with some watercolor panels. So, it was time to get a fixative. I grabbed the Krylon UV Resistant spray that Jennifer McQuire linked too in a recent blog post. I will say, use this stuff outside! It worked though, no more powders rubbing off!
On to the inside of the card. I used a stamp from MFT’s Anything But Basic Birthday Sentiments. I did modify it a bit, to better fit…us. LOL I couldn’t help it! Seemed weird to say “Your.”
Thanks for stopping by! I hope the rest of your Christmas is amazing!
