In an effort to be fully transparent, I asked MFT to delete my link to the card below. I used a non-MFT die to create the circle. It’s a die I use all the time, and didn’t think twice. After I posted my card, I went back to read the contest rules, and realized what I had done. MFT deleted my link, and I re-created the card using the stitched circle from MFT’s Starry Circle die set. I used all of the same material, just changed the circle die.
Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
Today is a super quick bonus post, to share the card I made for the MFT Card Design Superstar challenge. I’ve already shared my card for the Clean & Simple Genius and Coloring Virtuoso categories. I really thought I would stop with those two categories. If you’ve followed me long enough, you now shaker cards are the extent of my Innovation capabilities. But, I got an idea for a card, and was able to pull it off.
So, without further ado, here is my entry for Innovation Master.
I started out with a panel I made using Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and Blue Blitz Nuvo Shimmer Powder. I trimmed it down and die cut a circle from the middle.
Using the Mini Balloon Window and Frame set, I die cut two balloon frames from MFT Silver Sparkle cardstock. I trimmed down the edges on two Mini Balloon shaker pouches, then added the frames. I added Lucy’s Cards Tiffany Blue and Diamond Dew Drop gems to one of the balloon shaker pouches. For the other half, I added some adhesive at the top and bottom, then strung a piece of clear thread down the middle, making sure to leave plenty at the top and bottom. Then I glued the two pouches together using liquid adhesive.
Next, I created a card base with some more Neenah. I figured out where my watercolor panel would lay, then used that to position the die to cut the window. Once I had the card base cut, I added my balloon shaker piece, using Scor Tape to tape it to the inside of the front. I added a plan panel of Neenah with another die cut circle inside, to cover up the string and adhesive.
Using foam tape, I added my watercolor panel to the card base. I die cut some blue card stock using one of the strips from MFT Hearts in a Row Vertical die set. Then I stamped the sentiment from MFT You Wow Me with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow Opaque White powder. I added it to the panel with foam tape.
Check out the video below, the shaker piece spins!
Pretty cool, huh? I can’ believe I pulled it off. Its a not mind blowing, but a new take on spinners. At least I think it is.
Thanks for stopping by!
