Hello weekend! Thanks for visiting with me. Today I have a cute, shaped card to share with you.
I have had the super adorable Shaker Jar Dies set from Mama Elephant since it came out, but haven’t really had the chance to use it yet. When I saw that the Simon IG Challenge for August was Die Cutting, I thought this was the perfect time to use it.
As I mentioned above, I decided to make my card the shape of the jar (about 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″). It fits in a 4bar envelope.
I started out by cutting the jar from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. I cut the first piece out of 80 lbs. I wished I had used 110 lbs instead, and did use it for the back. I cut the jar top from MFT’s Brushed Silver cardstock.
I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink on the front piece, then added some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink along the edges. I also scored the card at the neck (in the future I will probably score it a little higher, at the bottom of the lid).
The little bugs are from Lawn Fawn’s Little Fireflies set. I stamped them with Gina K Amalgam ink and colored them with Copic markers. I then stamped some Versamark ink on the bottoms, and added Lawn Fawn’s Glow in The Dark embossing powder.
I laid out the position of the bugs, then figured out where to stamp the sentiment (from Lawn Fawn’s Lights Out). I stamped the sentiment and the little heart trail, wiht Altenew Jet Black ink.
I added my little bugs with foam tape, added the lid with Scor-Tape, then adhered the back to the front with more Scor-Tape.
I did die cut the lid from white cardstock and adhered it to the back of the card, to give it a finished look. I had to adhere it upside down, so the little notches on the side lined up.
Such a cute little card, and pretty easy to make. I think it’s adorable!
Thanks for stopping by!
