Hey there! Today I have a quick post sharing the card I made for the July A Blog Named Hero challenge. This month, the theme is Christmas in July.
I’m really grateful for the opportunity to add to my Christmas stash! It will be nice to not need to spend two months focused on Christmas cards. I’ve burnt myself out the last two years, trying to get all my cards done in time.
I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do for this card. I had some backgrounds that I had made with stencils, and I thought I would use one of those. But, I needed a big die cut sentiment to go with it, and I didn’t have any from Hero Arts. As I was mulling things over before falling asleep, I came up with this design.
I started by trimming down some Distress Watercolor cardstock. I masked off the top, then added some Gansai Tambi Pearl Cobalt Blue watercolor. I dried the panel with my heat gun, then masked off the bottom, and painted the top with Altenew watercolors. I dried the panel again.
The girl and boy images were left over from last year (the October 2018 MMH kit) I stamped the mistletoe and the birds with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and colored them with Copic markers. Once I was done coloring them, I die cut them.
Before adding the images to the panel, I stamped the sentiment from the same kit with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, and embossed it with clear powder. Then, I added the images with foam tape. I finished the card by adding the watercolor panel to a Neenah card base with fun foam.
I think I’ve had this design floating around in my head since last year, but I got burnt out on Christmas before I could make it (I never thought I would say that before lol). I like the shimmer paint at the bottom, adds some interest.
Thanks for stopping by!
