Hooray! MFT Sketch Challenge 437

Hey there! I’m popping in today to share a quick card I made for this week’s MFT Sketch Challenge. It’s been a little bit since I participated in a MFT challenge, but this week’s Sketch fit perfectly with and idea I already had, so why not?

Here is the sketch:

I recently snagged the Basic Shapes-Triangle Stencil in the retirement sale. I had planned to make a card very similar to this sketch, but have been so busy I haven’t had the chance. This sketch gave me the excuse to play around!

I blended a bunch of Distress Oxide inks on a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with the stencil (Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Broken China and Blueprint Sketch). I made sure to mask off the openings I wasn’t using with a combination of Post It tape and Purple tape. I went with blues and greens because I’ve been using a lot of corals and pinks, and I wanted to make this a masculine card. I don’t have enough birthday cards for dudes.

After I blended all that ink, I set the panel aside and worked on the sentiment. I’m not sure if glitter is ok for a male card (my son wasn’t either, lol), but I made an executive decision to us it. I die cut MFT’s Hooray from MFT Silver Sparkle cardstock, along with three from Neenah. I used liquid adhesive to put them together, then added them to the card.

I stamped the sentiment “It’s Your Birthday,” from MFT’s You Wow Me, with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow Opaque White Detail powder on Gina K Design Blue Raspberry cardstock. I added it over the “Hooray,” with foam tape. The card base is also Blue Raspberry.

I kept it pretty simple, since it is meant for a guy. I think the silver sparkle is just enough to make the card special, but not over the top. This card came together pretty quickly, even with the ink blending.

Anyone else have difficulty with masculine cards?

Thanks for stopping by!

Nicole
