Hello there! I thought I would try something new today, the Pinkfresh Studio January challenge.
Pinkfresh Studios is a bit of a new company for me, and I am kicking myself for not discovering them sooner! The stamp set I used for this card includes my favorite sentiment of 2018 (I’ll share what it is at the end of my post).
Here is the link the the Pinkfresh Studio’s challenge blog.
The challenge for January was to pick any of the inspiration images from last year and use that for your project. You could pick the colors or the challenge prompt . I choose to use October’s prompt, Fussy Cutting/Die Cutting. And let me say, there was a whole lot of die cutting that didn’t make it to the card, lol. I fought my mojo big time with this card.
I think the biggest struggle was that I don’t have a ton of Pinkfresh products, and I just made a couple of cards using the Hello Word With a Bouquet die. So, my only other option was Happy Hugs. And then, I wanted to be different, hence I tried LOTS of different ideas before I landed here.
I had already stamped the bear image and colored most of it in last month. I just needed to finish the bears. With the red, and Valentine’s Day approaching, I thought a heart would be cute. This one is a nesting die from Hero Arts, die cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. I actually had 2 different hearts with ink blended on them, and the background included in the set, but it just seemed weird. Especially when I tried to add it to the card base.
So, I went back and tried again with white. I stamped the main sentiment with Altenew’s Jet Black ink, and the word Hugs in Delicata Gold Shimmer ink.
I laid the heart on a MFT Cranberry Card base (or maybe Wild Cherry, I can’t remember), but it was too plain.
So, using MFT’s Snow Flurry stencil, I dabbed on some Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink. I also spritzed it with Shimmer Spray, because at this point I had thrown everything else at this card, why not make it shimmer too! Seriously, I probably should have stopped and taken a break, but why make things easy.
Back on track…I adhered the heart with a tape runner and added the bears with foam tape. I also added black gel pen to their eyes. I was too afraid to use Black Nuvo Drops, after spending like 2 hours fighting myself. Heaven knows I would have added a big blob and ruined it.
I’m actually happy with how the card turned out. It wasn’t easy, but it came out cute! I really hamstrung myself by forcing myself to use the already colored image. It limited my options a lot. That, and being stubborn about being “unique.”
Oh, and my favorite sentiment from 2018? “The Snuggle is Real”! It’s that awesome?
Thanks for stopping by and sticking with me through that mess. I hope my mojo straightens itself out soon.
