My Monthly Hero December 2018 Unboxing

Welcome back! Today I am sharing the awesomeness that is the December 2018 My Month Hero kit! I have waited soooo long for this kit! The original fairy kit in 2016 was what made me decide to subscribe to the kits in the first place.

Look at this scrumptious thing!

I did take a video of my unboxing:

I also managed to make a couple of cards! I knew right away that I had to pair the fairies with watercolors!

I had some of the handmade watercolor paper left over from an older kit. I lightly added some Cherry Bomb Nuvo Shimmer Powder to the paper, sprayed lightly with water, and let it air dry.

While I was waiting for it to dry, I stamped a bunch of images from the kit in Hero Arts Intense Black ink on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. I used the Stardust glitter pen on the dandelion, and clear Wink of Stella on the fairies wings.

Once the panel was dry, I die cut a small circle from vellum to give the fairy a place to site. I made it small because I didn’t want to cover up too much of the background. I added the fairy and dandelion to the vellum with Scor-Tape. Then I used more Scor-Tape to add the vellum to the watercolor panel.

I stamped the sentiment from the kit with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Silver embossing powder. I repeated this, due to the texture of the paper.

The card base is Passionate Pink from Gina K Design’s as is the matching envelope.

This next card was bit of a battle for me. I thought I was going to use a blue watercolor background with the flower and fairy, but it looked weird, like it was floating in the middle of no where. I guess now I could have used vellum again, like I did above…

Then I decided to use this Tree Fancy die from the May 2018 kit, which I watercolored with Altenew’s watercolors. Next I made 2 different galaxy backgrounds that I didn’t like, before deciding to try the Star Light Star Bright Bold Print stamp with Gina K Design’s In the Navy ink. I let my daughter pick between the three different skies.

I added the flower to the card panel with foam tape, and then more foam tape on the fairy. The sentiment was stamped with Versaclaire Nocturne ink and heat embossed with Wow’s Holographic Sparkle embossing powder, die cut using MFT’s Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips and added with foam tape.

The card base is more Gina K Design’s In the Navy.

I know I say this a lot, but  I had a lot of fun playing with this kit! I still have the mouse image and the lady bugs to use.

As much as I love this kit, I am ending my subscription to the My Monthly Hero kits. There were a lot of kit in 2018 that I would not have purchased on my own. Too many to justify keeping the subscription. Plus, I’m enough of a stalker shopper that I feel confident I will be able to buy a kit before they sell out. I’m not abandoning MMH, just being more selective.

What do you think of the December 2018 kit? Are you a fairy fan? Let me know in the comments below!
