Magnificent Magnolias-Watecolored

Hello! It’s been awhile since I was this excited about a couple of cards! As I mentioned Monday, I was feeling a little rusty this weekend. Then, this beautiful set arrived and all was right with the world. Well, not really, but watercoloring the images helped. Then, the rest fell into place.

The beautiful set I mentioned above is Magnificent Magnolias, which is the Stamptember collaboration between Clearly Besotted and Simon Say’s Stamps. I was able to make two cards this past weekend, using this kit.

Here is the first card.

I stamped the full bloom on Distress Watercolor cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing power. Then I watercolored the image, using Daniel Smith watercolors for the flower, and Altenew watercolors for the leaves. Did you know that there are red Magnolias? That was the main reason I bought this set, because Magnolias are not just white.

Once the panel dried I used partial die cutting onto cut out the bottom of the flower. I layered MFT’s Silver Sparkle cardstock under the flower after die cutting it as well.

Then, I used fun foam to add the panel to a card base made from MFT’s Tickled Pink cardstock. I added some Lucy’s Cards iridescent jewels. The sentiment is from the set, heat embossed in white.

Next up, another red magnolia.

I painted this blossom the same as above, with Daniel Smith and Altenew watercolors. I die cut it with the matching die, and also cut some out of the same silver sparkle cardstock.

I took some more Tickled Pink cardstock and sprayed it with the White/Gold ink spray from one of the My Monthly Hero kits. It’s really cool because it looks gold in some light, and silver in others (which you can actually see in the picture above). I added the flower to the ink sprayed panel, as well as stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from the the set in white. Lucy’s Cards Sparkling Bridal Mix gems finish off the card.

It was a bit time consuming, coloring these images, but fun. I have several more versions of these images I stamped to color with colored pencils. I didn’t get to it this weekend, but it will give me something to do during the week.

This is my first post featuring Stamptember items. Have you ordered any of the exclusive items from Simon yet? I have this set, and the Concord & 9th Monster Hugs set on order. I also ordered my first Simon card kit! It was love at first sight with the Sketched Flowers set.

Look at that image! And this kit is such a good deal, only $34.99. I was tempted to just buy the stamp set, but that alone was $24.99. For $10.00 more you get the Alcohol Lift ink kit, all those lovely foils, and cardstock!

Let me know below if you ordered the card kit, or any other cool Stamptember items.

Thanks for stopping by!
