You Are Lovely-Where Creativity Meets C9

Whew, half way through the week! To celebrate, I left my comfort zone big time, and jumped into the Where Creativity Meets C9 July challenge-Mixed Media.

If there was ever a scarier term then Mixed Media, I’m not sure what it would be. But, since I used to feel that way out colored pencils, I decided to give it ago. My card is a bit rough, but I think an descent first attempt

Ok, brace yourselves.

I thought the easiest way to go about this was to start with a alcohol ink background. I believe this one has Sailboat and Wild Plum, with Silver Mixative (I might be a little off on the colors, I forget to note them on the back of the panels, and this one was made months ago). I die cut the panel with a rectangle die, trying to get the most saturated parts of the piece.

I took the tag shape from the Sprinkles Turnabout matching dies, and cut it out of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. Then I took the sentiment from the Lovely Flowers turnabout, and cut out the sentiment. I was going to lay the tag piece over the background, leaving the positive piece out. But, I got the genius (heavy sarcasm) idea to add Nuvo Glitter Paste to the sentiment… I did die cut the sentiment a second time and adhere both sentiments together to make it stronger. I also laid it back into the new negative space to hold it in place while I spread the Moonstone paste over it. Then I pulled the sentiment out before it could dry. This left the edges a bit rough. I tried to clean them up with my Exacto knife, but it was still a bit damp. I need to learn to stop and take my time…

I added the sentiment back into the negative on the tag with liquid adhesive. I die cut some little foliage images from the Monogram set, colored them with Copic markers, and adhered them to the tag. I added a little bit of shimmery ribbon to the tag, and finished it off with some iridescent gems.

The alcohol ink panel was added to a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card base with fun foam for dimension.

It was fun to think outside of the box, but I wish I had taken my time a bit more. I’m just not comfortable with multi-media. I tend to lean more towards clean and simple. How do you feel about multi-media?

Thanks for stopping by!
