Happy Monday and welcome back! Today I have a quick post for you, featuring the card I made for MFT’s Sketch Challenge 394. I thought this sketch was a perfect chance to break out the new Gift Shaker Window and Frame. What do you think?
And… here is my card.
I started out by cutting a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock using the window die from the set. I also cut the frame die out of a gray Woodgrain cardstock twice (one each for the inside and outside of the card). Then I cut strips from the same Woodgrain cardstock, to act as window ledges.
Next, I took my Sno-Cone card base, lined up my white panel on the front, and marked the placement for the window. Using the window die, I cut the window opening in the card base. I also cut a piece of acetate to fit the window opening.
Using a strong, double sided adhesive I glued the acetate and one of the window frames to the front of the card panel, and the second frame to the inside of the card front.
The cat and fishbowl images from MFT’s Cool Cat set were previously colored with Copic markers. I added the face image to the body of the kitty and adhered him to the front of the card. I glued two of the fishbowl images back to back and adhered those to the inside is the card.
After stamping the sentiment from the kit in Extreme Black ink, I thought the card front was a little plain. Since my new Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink had arrived in the mail the day I made this card, I took to opportunity to break it out!
Using the new Grassy Edges stencil and a Distress Blending Brush (😍), I blended a bit of Mowed Lawn to the bottom edge (I did mask everything else off with Post-it tape). I also add a couple of little marks to the sides of the kitties legs, to indicate he was swinging off the window ledge with a multi-liner pen.
I really wanted to add some patterned paper to the inside of the card, so it would look like wallpaper behind the window. But I couldn’t figure out how to make it work and still leave a place to write, without looking really weird. Any tips would be appreciated, for next time!
So, my quick post ended up a little longer then I planned. I forgot what went into pulling this card together! I hope you liked it!
