Making Cards

More Paper Smooches!

Happy Sunday afternoon! As promised, here are the two Paper Smooches cards I made yesterday. The first card is a Thank You card, made with the “Thanks Word” die and the “Linked Hearts,” die.

There are a couple of tips I wanted to share with this cards. The first is on the die cut hearts. I knew I was going to be doing a die inlay, and that I needed to save all the tiny pieces that I cut out. In this case, I used washi tape across the die cut, after I removed it from the negative paper. I made sure the washi tape covered all the tiny pieces, and I pushed down really hard, to get it to stick (I ended up using bigger pieces of tape on the other two cuts). I also used small bowls to keep all the pieces together. I saved the pieces I die cut out of the watercolor paper for another card. That is the panel I made with the Gansai Tambi Pearlescent watercolors.

Another thing I would like to share is the word “Thanks.” I die cut the word out of Gina K. Designs Passionate Pink cardstock once, and then out of white scrap 4 more times. Then I glued the die cuts together with Ranger Multi Matte Medium. One of the scraps I used had some blue ink on it, which you can see from the side. I think it makes it a bit more interesting, and you can’t see it from the front.

The second card I made I also entered into Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge. The challenge for this week is to make a card for a male in your life, using Tim Holtz products. I used Distress Oxide Inks for the rainbow, and regular Distress Ink for the sky. This is for my kids’ little brother (we are an interesting bunch…). I used Glossy Accents on his eyes, and White Silver Metallic Neenah cardstock.

I’m having some issues getting my pictures to link on the Paper Smooches site, so I may have to post these again. Or maybe spam Instagram 🙂

Up next is the unboxing of my Hero Arts June Month Kit! It arrived yesterday! I didn’t expect it until Monday, so I didn’t bother to check the mail till this morning.
